The Sentinel offers nonprofit and other community organizations an opportunity to promote upcoming events for free in the community calendar for three days before the event. Events requiring reservations may be promoted for up to two weeks before the reservation deadline.

Events that require a purchase from a for-profit business, even if a donation is made to the organization, are not eligible for the calendar.

Submit items at least one week in advance via email, [email protected]; call (717) 248-6741; online, Virtual Newsroom at www.lewistownsentinel.com; or mail or drop off, The Sentinel, 352 Sixth St., P.O. Box 588 Lewistown, PA 17044. The editor reserves the right to edit all submissions.

You must include a telephone number for verification purposes. The phone number is not for publication, unless so indicated.

• Raisin-filled cookie sale — pickup Saturday, July 8, Decatur Fire Co. Cookhouse, North 522, Alfarata. $12 per dozen, $7 per half dozen. Order by June 30. Order by calling 717-543-0921.

• Juniata Terrace Commemorative groundbreaking ceremony — 10 a.m., Friday, June 23. Event celebrates the 100th anniversary of the building of homes in the Juniata Terrace. The event will be held at the school playground along Viaduct Way. RSVP by calling the Juniata Terrace Borough office no later than June 16 at (717) 248-4383.

Saturday, June 10

• Fly-in, Drive-in, Walk-in breakfast — 8-10:30 a.m. at the EAA Club House, Mifflin County Airport Hanger 4. "World Famous Omelet" plus your favorite side dishes. Sponsored by Experimental Aircraft Association, Chapter 518.

• Relay for Life of Mifflin-Juniata benefiting the American Cancer Society — 10 a.m.-10 p.m. at Derry Township Park. Theme for 2023 is ‘Carnival.’ Fundraising Goal is $70,000. Information www.relayforlife.org/pamifflinjuniata.

• Chicken barbecue fundraising event — Ready at 10:30 a.m., West Granville Township Fire Co. Call to pre-order (717) 248-0665.

• LHS Class of 1965 luncheon — 11 a.m. at the Restaurant, 10475 Route 522 S. in Lewistown. All classmates and spouses welcome.

Sunday, June 11

• Ham dinner — 11 a.m.-

1 p.m., McClure Volunteer Fire Company. Meal includes ham, potatoes, gravy, vegetables, applesauce and desserts. Free for ages 5 and under, $6 for ages 6-12, $12 for ages 13 and over.

• History of our flags presentation — 6:30 p.m., Lewistown Elks Lodge #663, 229 W. 3rd St., Lewistown.

Monday, June 12

• Bingo — 10 a.m.-1 p.m., McVeytown Senior Center.
